acer laptops

For just about any mobile computing, it’s hard to beat a laptop.

Sure, you can use your smartphone or tablet for getting things done while on the go, but we highly doubt you can achieve that much productivity, at least when compared to using a portable computer. However, with so many laptops, portable computers, notebooks, and Chromebooks available, how do you even begin to choose the right portable machine for you?

Well, it’s a good thing that we’re here to help.

For this post, we’ll take a look at some of the best Acer laptops that are available in the market. Why Acer? It’s a brand that’s been in the business of making PC components and portable computers for the longest time. Plus, they do make quality machines.

Best Acer Laptops

We did the hard part of researching and testing, so you don’t have to. Below are the best Acer portable computers that your money can buy.

The Acer Aspire E 15 is a great all-around machine that delivers top-notch performance without compromising battery life.

For starters, it packs a powerful 7th-Gen Intel Core i5-7200U processor that should blow any mobile computing tasks out of the water. Coupled with the onboard 8GB ram and 256GB SSD, and you have a machine that can handle pretty much anything that you throw at it.

The 1080p display is quite sharp but it does run a bit dim. However, the color reproduction is far beyond impressive, which is good enough for us.

The machine feels solid and durable, which is a big plus if you’re planning to make this laptop your main portable system. It also comes with the onboard NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, which means it could run a lot of lighter games like Overwatch.

The Acer Aspire E 15 is priced within the range of $750 to $800 which is definitely a great value considering what it can do.

Ultrathin 0.39" Form Factor

The Acer Swift 7 is a notebook that almost defies common sense.

This machine is unbelievably thin but still promises top-notch performance and great battery life. Despite the insanely slim 0.39-inch form factor, the Swift 7 still packs a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD). It goes without saying that this laptop is more than equipped to handle even the most intense multitasking sessions.

The Swift 7 is also one handsome devil with a beautiful 1080p 13.3-inch display. For a thin laptop, you’d think that most of the ports will be gutted, but it’s not the case here. Instead of having just one USB port, like with most thin laptops, you get two with the Swift 7. Considering the thin profile, it’s easy to think that battery life won’t be enough, but we got a good 8-9 hours out of this laptop with a single charge.

With such an ultrathin laptop, you’d think that it’s easily a $1,000 machine.

The Acer Predator 17 is a gaming laptop, and it’s a different kind of beast when compared to other units in this list.

The Predator 17 measures 1.56 x 16.65 x 12.66 inches (HWD) and weighs nearly 10 pounds, so it’s bigger and bulkier than your standard laptop. Well, you need such a large form factor if you want to house a 7th-generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and a 17.3-inch IPS screen.

Acer also incorporated the Predator SoundPound technology with the laptop’s four speakers, as well as two subwoofers and Dolby Audio surround sound. For your serious gaming needs, you’ll be glad to know that the Predator 17 ships with the GeForce GTX 1070 Graphics card, which should be able to handle many of the recent games.

Another thing that’s worth noting is the Programmable RGB Backlit Keyboard, which is a great addition for any enthusiast. The PredatorSense is a gaming control panel that lets you customize features like backlit lighting and macro programmable keys.

Oh, did we mention that this is a VR-ready machine as well? This is a great option for those who are serious about gaming.

If you want a cheap Acer laptop but don’t mind using a Chrome OS machine, the Acer Flagship CB3-532 is surely an attractive package.

While the design is pretty standard and is nothing to write home about, this machine comes with a sizable 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen that’s superior when compared to other Chromebooks. It’s not as portable as its 11 and 13-inch counterparts, but it’s still thin and light enough to meet most portable needs.

This Chromebook is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 processor and 2GB of memory. It’s not the most powerful notebook out there, but it won’t have problems with basic computing tasks. Battery life is also impressive considering that it’s a budget notebook. The marketed 7-hour battery life is on-point.

Keep in mind that we have linked you to a refurbished model. However, Amazon guarantees that you will be getting a model that will look and feel brand-new. Amazon even offers a 90-day warranty for the notebook.

2-in-1 hybrid laptops is the “in” thing nowadays. So when it comes to that, the Acer Spin 5 might just be the best offering by the brand.

The Spin 5 is available in many different specs but the base starts with a 7th Generation Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8GB of memory, and 256GB of SSD storage. With such components, you get a very capable machine that works both as a productivity and media consumption device.

The 13.3-inch (on the base model) full-HD IPS display is capable of 1080p resolutions. While the display is not exactly mind-blowing, it gets the job done with its bright screen and sharp colors. The only complaint we have is that the screen is glossy, which tends to attract fingerprints.

The touchscreen is quite responsive, but we can’t say the same with the trackpad. Battery life is also impressive, as we’ve gotten as many as 9 hours with a single charge.

It’s a good 2-in-1 laptop for the money.

The Acer Chromebook R 11 is yet another convertible laptop, but this time it’s a Chrome-OS powered model.

The Chromebook R 11 is quite possibly one of the most versatile hybrid laptops that we have used. As a convertible model, you can use it in four modes: Notebook, Display, Tent and Tablet. For example, the Tent mode is best for watch movies or TV shows.

The Chromebook R 11 comes with a serviceable 11.6-inch, 1,366 x 768-pixel touchscreen display, which can be rotated using the 360-degree hinge for different configurations. In terms of components, it comes with the N3150 Quad-Core Processor, 4GB of memory, and 16GB of storage. This might seem low, but you have to keep in mind that you are using a Chrom e OS machine.

For such a small device, the battery life is quite impressive as it lasted 9 to 10 hours with a single charge. However, the included speakers leave a lot to be desired.

For a sub-$300 laptop, it offers a lot in terms of performance and features. This is a hybrid that’s worth checking out.

1 TB HDD

If you want a laptop that will crush everything that you throw at it, the Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition might just be right down your alley.

As you can see from the specs, the Aspire V 17 Nitro is a beefy laptop that might as well be a gaming machine. However, it’s not as powerful as the earlier Acer Predator. This machine is equipped with Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor, 16GB of memory, and 256GB SSD plus 1 TB HDD. So in terms of hardware, this laptop is a monster.

With the GTX 1060 as its GPU, this notebook should be good enough to handle the latest games at playable frames. It can even handle VR games if you’re into them. The laptop does shine more if used as a productivity machine. Even with various multitasking sessions and working on numerous browser tabs, we’ve yet to experience any slowdowns or crashes with this laptop.

The 17.3-inch display can be a little dim but it does offer good color reproduction and sharp picture quality. Add to that the amazing built-in speakers, and you’ve got a killer multimedia device. It’s a thousand-dollar laptop, but it’s well worth the money if you want a beefier Acer laptop.
